From coast to coast, the U.S. boasts some of the top ski resorts and skiable terrain across the globe. But, knowing where to travel on your ski trip to the U.S. isn’t easy.
So, we’ve done the hard work for you. With almost 500 ski resorts to choose from across the nation, these are the destinations you need to visit on your ski and snowboard trip to the U.S.
Highly regarded as the crown jewel of ski resorts in the U.S., Vail Ski Resort offers 5,289 skiable acres featuring a variety of terrain, 31 lifts, and three terrain parks. The resort also boasts a European-inspired style in addition to dozens of boutiques, restaurants, and bars to explore off the slopes.
A close rival to Vail in terms of size is Aspen Snowmass. The area itself consists of four different mountains that combine for a total of 5,517 acres: Aspen Highlands, Aspen Mountain, Buttermilk, and Snowmass. The area also includes some pedestrian-only streets for upscale dining and shopping along with a charming downtown area with lodging and nightlife options to complete your stay.
Jackson Hole Mountain Resort offers incredible views of the surrounding Teton Mountains and a variety of terrain to suit every level of skier or snowboarder. Because of its close proximity to both Grand Teton and Yellowstone National Park, the resort boasts an abundance of post-ski activities, too.
With its impeccably groomed 7,300 skiable acres, 341 ski trails, and 7 terrain parks, some say you’ll never take the same run twice at Park City. Off the slopes, the resort itself offers a number of lodging options, a charming Main Street with ski-in/ski-out access, and a lively après-ski scene.
Just a short drive from Salt Lake City, Alta was one of the first ski areas to open in the U.S. and now features 3,000 skiable acres. Alta also offers a number of different accommodations including 5 different lodges, condos, and a number of chalets, most commonly found in the Swiss Alps.
