Located just outside of Lake Placid, Whiteface Mountain is New York’s premier ski resort. The resort boasts some of the most challenging terrain on the east coast and has even hosted the Winter Olympics in 1980. But if you’re a beginning skier, don’t let that deter you from exploring Whiteface. The resort offers plenty of green runs on much more manageable terrain.
Gore Mountain is the largest ski resort in New York with more than 100 trails across four peaks of the Adirondack Mountains. The resort features a variety of modern lifts including an 8 passenger gondola. Gore Mountain tends to remain uncrowded and, on a clear day, you can enjoy beautiful views of the Adirondacks and occasionally the Green Mountains in Vermont.
Being only a three-hour drive from New York City, Hunter Mountain entices partygoers to the slopes every weekend. The resort offers a variety of dining options and an après ski scene sure to please the city-goers. Hunter Mountain spans over four different faces so there is always a wide variety of terrain for every skill level.
Highly regarded as one of the best ski spots in the Catskills, Windam Mountain features six terrain parks, 54 trails, and more than 700 acres of skiable terrain. Its convenient location near New York City and the plethora of off-slope activities make Windham Mountain an ideal destination on your ski trip to New York.
