A wide variety of terrain and thick snow ensure every style of skiing is welcome in Sweden. But, knowing where to travel on your ski trip to Sweden isn’t easy.
So, we’ve done the hard work for you. With more than 100 ski resorts to explore, these are the destinations you need to visit on your ski and snowboard trip to Sweden.
Founded in 1909, this century-old ski resort is one of the longest-running and most popular in Sweden. With 89 ski slopes and 46 lifts, Åre is highly regarded as the top ski destination in all of northern Europe. Because the resort leans more towards the commercial side, there are plenty of dining, lodging, and après ski options.
Consisting of four different ski areas, Lindvallen, Högfjället, Tandådalen, and Hundfjället, SkiStar Sälen is another massive Swedish ski resort. The resort offers 100 different runs suitable to every level of skier or snowboarder. With 50 restaurants to choose from, luxurious accommodations, and tons of night skiing, there’s plenty to do at Sälen when the sun goes down.
48 slopes and stunning panoramic alpine views are just a few things awaiting you at Stöten. With one of the highest drops in the country at 1,200 ft, dozens of miles for cross-country skiing, and lit trails for night skiing, Stöten is truly a skiers paradise. The resort also features newly renovated ski-in/ski-out accommodations.
Spread across three different resorts, Vemdalsskalet, Björnrike, and Klövsjö Storhogna, SkiStar Vemdalen offers 58 slopes, a snow park, a children’s area, and night skiing. New lifts across ski areas and wide slopes ensure a stress-free time on the mountain. But, Vemdalen isn’t just about skiing. The resort also boasts on-slope accommodations and more than 30 restaurants.
With relatively moderate runs and a dedicated area for children, Branäs is one of the top family-friendly resorts in Sweden. Its central location makes it easy to access from multiple parts of the country. Branäs also boasts a snow park, long intermediate runs, along with downhill and cross-country skiing.
