Known for being an authentic, rugged ski area, Taos Ski Valley is the largest in the state of New Mexico. It’s nestled at the base of Kachina Peak and offers 1,294 acres of skiable terrain. More than half of the runs at Taos Ski Valley are for experts, but the remaining 50% of terrain is evenly divided for beginning and intermediate skiers.
Opened by the Mescalero Apache Tribe in 1963, Ski Apache is southern New Mexico’s premier ski resort. While the stunning views of the Sierra Blanca mountains are sure to be a highlight on your ski trip to New Mexico, Ski Apache also offers the state’s only 8 passenger gondola along with 55 runs across 750 acres.
Angel Fire Resort features 81 trails of which 77 percent are graded beginner or intermediate. So if you’re a beginner skier or traveling with the family, you’re sure to be comfortable on the slopes at Angel Fire. The resort also offers great glade skiing, night skiing, terrain parks, and state-of-the-art snowmaking when weather conditions aren’t favorable.
The oldest ski resort in New Mexico, Sandia Peak is conveniently located near Albuquerque. The highlight of the ski area is a 15-minute tram ride that ascends to the top of the mountain. As you rise more than 10,000 feet, you’ll be able to enjoy 11,000 square miles of stunning panoramic views.
Nestled just outside of Los Alamos and Sante Fe, Pajarito Mountain Ski Area offers incredible views of the Rio Grande Valley along with 300 acres of skiable terrain. The area is most famous for its superb tree skiing and the slopes remain relatively uncrowded so you won’t have to worry about long lift lines.
