Nestled among the snowy slopes of the Rocky Mountains, Denver offers easy access to a number of incredible ski resorts. But, knowing where to travel on your ski trip to Denver isn’t easy.
So, we’ve done the hard work for you. With dozens of ski resorts in and around the Mile High City, these are the destinations you need to visit on your ski and snowboard trip to Denver.
Winter Park may not feature the same glamour as Aspen, but it does boast the title of the longest-running ski resort in Colorado. The area features 3,000 acres of skiable terrain and more than 160 trails to enjoy it. The resort’s close proximity to Denver also allows for easy access to Denver International Airport and all the downtown area has to offer.
While the majority of ski resorts in Colorado close sometime in early April, Arapahoe Basin, or A-Basin, boasts a notably longer season. The resort typically stays open until June and occasionally remains open into July. A-Basin also boasts some of the most challenging steeps around Denver.
What Keystone Resort lacks in challenging runs, is quickly made up for by the sheer amount of terrain. The resort stretches over six different peaks combining for 3,100 skiable acres. Keystone is also the perfect destination for families and groups with a dedicated children’s area, beginner ski runs, and ski instruction.
Breckenridge Ski Resort has long been a winter sports mecca for skiers and snowboarders across the globe. We can thank its initial settlement to hopeful miners, but the historic town now boasts incredible snow along with a variety of shopping, dining, and lodging options to suit the budget of any traveler.
While Echo Mountain is easily one of the smallest ski resorts in Colorado, it’s the closest one to Denver. Much of the terrain at Echo Mountain is catered to beginning skiers and prices tend to be more affordable. So, if you’re a novice skier or snowboarder, Echo Mountain will be a good stop on your ski trip to Denver.
