With its incredible terrain parks and world-class instruction, skiers and snowboarders of all levels flock to Cardrona every season. The resort continues to reinvest in its facilities, so you’re sure to experience some of the most modern infrastructures in the ski world. While the resort can be crowded in peak season, it’s incredibly family-friendly, easily accessible, and boasts some of the most stunning alpine views in all of New Zealand.
Treble Cone, one of the top ski resorts in New Zealand, features wide-open terrain, challenging vertical drops, and the nation’s highest annual snowfall. The trails at Treble Cone tend to lean more towards intermediate and expert. But, there are a handful of runs dedicated to beginners, too. Despite its convenient location and beautiful views of Lake Wanaka and Mt. Aspiring, Treble Cone tends to remain relatively uncrowded.
Located just 30 minutes from Queenstown, it doesn’t take long to figure out how The Remarkables mountain range received its name. As one of the most photographed mountain ranges in the world, skiers and snowboarders love shredding on the area’s incredible terrain parks and wide runs.
Mount Hutt is the highest mountain on the South Island. So, incredible snow conditions are almost guaranteed. This laidback, family-friendly resort truly has something for everyone with excellent beginner facilities along with tons of off-piste acreage. Many skiers stay in Methven, a nearby village, that offers several affordable accommodations.
The most unique aspect of Whakapapa is that it sits on the country’s largest active volcano, located in Tongariro National Park. The area boasts almost 70 runs across more than 1,300 acres, much larger in comparison to other New Zealand resorts. With a large, beginner ski area, Whakapapa is an excellent destination for families and beginning skiers.
