With 375 miles of runs, Val Thorens offers one of the largest ski complexes in France and possibly the world. Spread across three valleys, Val Thorens is also the highest altitude ski resort in Europe. Stunning views of the surrounding Alps are as impressive as the slopes. To complete your ski trip, Val Thorens also offers great ski-in/ski-out accommodations.
While Saas-Fee may not be the top destination for expert riders considering its lack of off-piste acreage and challenging terrain, beginners and families are sure to enjoy the mild slopes. Thanks to its high altitude, snowfall at Saas-Fee is always excellent in both quantity and quality. The resort also tends to be less crowded than others in Switzerland.
Avoriaz is the ultimate winter playground. A combined 12 resorts offer more than 300 slopes for all levels of skiers and snowboarders. The car-free resort boasts several ski-in/ski-out accommodations, 90 restaurants throughout the area, and a convenient lift system to connect both sides of Avoriaz.
Chamonix features an endless variety of terrain and 60 lifts to access it. While some tracks are reserved for the advanced riders and danger-seekers, the area offers plenty of acreage for beginning skiers, too. The town of Chamonix is also quite charming and features several options for accommodations, dining, and post-ski activities.
Verbier is one of four combined resorts in its area including Thyon, Veysonnaz, and Nendaz. Together, the ski area offers more than 250 miles of ski runs accessible my almost 100 lifts. Skiers and snowboarders alike will appreciate Verbier’s freeriding and off-piste challenges. The resort also boasts stunning accommodations and several dining options.
