The resort was truly the first of its kind, featuring ski-in, ski-out accommodations and modern on-site facilities including lifts, accommodations, and more.
Located in Germany just outside of Munich, Garmisch-Partenkirchen is most famous for hosting the Winter Olympics in 1936. The German Alps serve up almost 50 miles of ski runs with even more miles of cross-country skiing. The slopes do tend to cater to intermediate and expert levels of skiers, but the resort still offers world-class instruction for those new to the sport. Plenty of dining and après ski options are available in the nearby village, too, along with a 24-hour casino.
Closely located to Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Zugspitze is Germany’s highest peak at nearly 10,000 feet. Guaranteed snow from mid-November to early May means Zugspitze boasts one of the longest seasons in its area. The ski resort also offers acres of free-riding along with more manicured trails, too.
Glenshee Ski & Snowboard Center is the largest ski resort in Scotland with almost 25 miles of ski trails. The various terrain offers glades, steeps, open bowls, and more along with 22 different lifts. The mountainsides of Val d’Isère are dotted with cozy chalets, luxurious hotels, and some of the top slopes in Europe.
