Learn how to get your ski domain now

Thousands of ski-related websites inhabit the slopes of cyberspace, but only the savviest designers win the search engine slalom race. Now, ski website owners have a new tool: Introducing, the .Ski Domain Name!

That´s right! Instead of relying on the old .com, .net, and .info, beginning in March 2014  professional and personal ski website owners can now boast a .ski at the end of their domain name. The project, a brainchild of a company called Starting Dot, began in 2011. In July 2013, ICAAN,  the domain name system global authority, approved the .Ski domain name.

Why You Need It

Just as real-world addresses identify streets, cities, states and countries, Internet domains are comprised of different levels.  Internet address extensions like .SKI fall into the top-level domain category because they define entire categories of websites. Top-level domains are like real-world neighborhood associations because they define what is allowed in, and what is prohibited.

Over 20 international ski organizations, including the United States Ski and Snowboard Association and the International Olympic Committee have endorsed the .Ski domain.
